The "Business Development - Energy Trading" role at Pelmorex is essential to our organization, responsible for driving growth in energy trading and developing strategic business opportunities within the energy sector. We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven sales person with a strong background in energy trading, business development, and a passion for driving revenue growth. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication and negotiation skills, a deep understanding of energy markets, and a proven track record of building and maintaining successful business relationships. This role requires a motivated and proactive professional who can identify new opportunities, develop effective strategies, and drive overall business success within the energy trading sector.


Please note that despite being a remote role, it requires you to be located in and eligible to work in either of the 2 countries (Canada or the United States of America) with quarterly travel to client locations.

WHAT IS THE DAY TO DAY LOOK LIKE

  • Actively Prospect: Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential growth opportunities. This includes analyzing market trends, emerging technologies, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape 
  • Build Profitable Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with energy trading clients, suppliers, and key stakeholders, turning them into long-term partners and revenue sources
  • Strategic Deal Making: Developing and implementing trading strategies that maximize revenue generation and market share expansion
  • Deep Market Understanding: Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive threats, ensuring you can offer clients the best solutions with superior value propositions
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and agreements with energy trading partners and counterparties ensuring that all terms and conditions align with Pelmorex’s strategic goals and profitability targets
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service and support to energy trading clients ensuring timely and effective communication with clients, responding to inquiries and resolving issues promptly. 
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitoring and reporting on performance, market trends, and regulatory changes, providing insights to optimize future sales strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across the organization to ensure seamless execution of energy trading initiatives and a coordinated approach to market penetration. 
  • Business Travel: Requires travel, including day trips and occasional overnight stays, to attend client meetings, industry events, and site visits. The percentage of time spent on travel is estimated to be approximately 20-30% based on business needs and client locations. The duration and frequency of travel may vary, and candidates should be open to travel as needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Years of Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in energy trading, business development, or a related field is required.
