In-House Legal Counsel

Superside is looking for an Associate Legal Counsel to help shape and implement the legal systems and processes needed to take Superside to the next level. 

As part of a small legal team, and reporting directly to the Head of Legal, you will receive personalized mentorship and guidance. This role requires someone who is independently driven and prepared to roll up their sleeves and take responsibility for high-stakes legal matters arising across the company.

What you’ll do

• Negotiate contracts with customers, vendors, and others, ensuring that Superside’s interests are appropriately protected
• Draft bespoke contracts from scratch for novel situations
• Respond to a wide variety of legal questions that arise from across the business in day-to-day operations
• Develop systems and processes to improve the legal function
• Anticipate legal disputes and take proactive steps to mitigate risk
• Proactively advise the business on relevant legal developments and research important legal questions

What you’ll need to succeed

• Broad experience in a corporate commercial legal environment either in a professional practice or an in-house legal team 
• A high degree of proficiency in the law of contract and experience drafting, reviewing and interpreting contracts according to American law
• Knowledge and experience with intellectual property law, employment law and/or dispute resolution processes is a bonus 
• A team spirit allowing you to work well under pressure while maintaining kindness and compassion and a sense of the bigger picture
• A strong internal drive to perform at a high level, and prepared to run with matters without significant oversight or day-to-day management
• A growth mindset with the technical ability to research legal matters
• Strong business acumen with a desire to understand the impact that your work has on the business and the ability to act accordingly
• Excellent verbal and written English language proficiency with a solid understanding of fundamental legal concepts
• A relevant qualification (BA/MA) in Law and the right to practice law
