EcoCart is currently only hiring folks eligible to work in and physically based in the United States or Canada.

Salary Range: 225,000-275,000 base

The Opportunity 💻 

EcoCart is on the hunt for a high-EQ engineering leader to take our product and team to the next level. In the next few months, you will have a brand-new product to build from 0-1. We are looking for a leader who can be both an incredible executor and thoughtful manager. While you won’t be directly coding most of the time, you might need to jump in and take on a project when your team is maxed out. As a product-led business, this role will also sit on our leadership team to help us make critical business decisions. 

A day in the life ☀️

• Work directly with the CEO to build and inspire a world-class engineering team. 
• Provide hands-on leadership & guidance to our team of 5 - About 70% of your time will be spent managing, 30% on high-leverage coding activities
• Champion architectural best practices, ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of EcoCart’s technology stack
• Lead by example in conducting thorough and constructive code reviews, providing feedback that promotes learning and improvement
• Partner with the Product Lead to drive the roadmap forward and optimize processes to ship quality product at scale; foster healthy friction to meet core business objectives
• Advocate for the needs of the engineering team. This includes prioritizing a joyful developer experience.
• Report on standard KPIs on a monthly basis to ensure the engineering organization is meeting business objectives
• Manage all engineering schedules, budget and resource allocations
• Collaborate with your engineering leads to make sure we are navigating technical tradeoffs and building the proper technical architecture to scale the business. 

Minimum Requirements 🔍

• Experience building product and architecting systems from 0-1 in a startup environment. 
• 5+ years of full stack development experience
• 1+ years of direct people management experience
• Broad knowledge of programming languages, software architecture, design and database systems. A strong philosophy on how certain technologies help achieve various business goals. 
• Ability to effectively oscillate between high-level business strategy and in-the-weeds execution
• Maniacal bias-for-action with the ability to instill that spirit and urgency into your team at all times
• Desire to contribute meaningfully to the fight against climate change

Preferred Qualifications 🚀

• Experience working with Shopify / other e-commerce applications
• Experience with AWS tooling and infrastructure
• Professional programming experience in Python and/or Typescript
• Experience in climate tech and/or sustainability
• Experience as a former or current startup founder
